To create a new Template
1. Highlight the File Category the template is to
be created for
2. On the top tool bar, click the New button [the
white blank document]
3. New Document Template screen is displayed
4. Name the Template
5. Click OK and you will be returned to the
Template Manager screen with the new template displayed on the Template Manager
list.
6. Return to the Template List panel, with the
newly created document displayed
Note: All other instances of Microsoft
Word must be closed in order to open a template document.
To code your new Template
The Template Editor Module also adds an ‘Add In’ called
eXpd8-Powerbar to Microsoft Word application so you can insert eXpd8 fields
into the word document. In newer
versions of Microsoft Office, the eXpd8 powerbar is available through the
‘Add-In’s’ tab
1. Open the template that you created
2. Select Add-ins on the top toolbar
The eXpd8 template toolbar has four drop-down
lists, which will allow you to select fields from different eXpd8 records.
The first column drop-down lists File
Record fields. This provides access to fields containing data on the
summary page of the file in which the template may be generated
The second column drop-down lists Client
Record fields. This provides access to fields containing data in relation
to any clients on the file in which the template may be generated
The third column drop-down lists Contact
Record fields. This provides access to fields containing data in relation
to any contacts on the file in which the template may be generated
The last column drop-down lists Custom
Fields, which have been added to the File Category this template is for. This
provides access to fields containing data in relation to any custom fields on
the file in which the template may be generated
3, You can add these fields into the Template by clicking
on the Word document where you wish the eXpd8 field to be placed - flashing
cursor will indicate the position.
4, On the eXpd8 template toolbar select the
relevant field from the options in the drop-down
5. Format the document as required
6. Select the Save option on the Microsoft Word toolbar
