Creating Appointments

With Thread, you can create appointments that automatically appear in your Microsoft Outlook calendar. You can also create a Microsoft Teams meeting, and link appointments to specific matters.

Creating Appointments with Quick Create 

The easiest way to create an appointment is by using the Quick Create button.   

1.Click on the quick create button in the bottom left corner.

2. Select Appointment.  

3. A pop-up window will appear where you can fill in all relevant details. 



1. Enter Appointment Title. 
2. Enter required / optional attendees to send invite to. 
3. Search for a location on Google or choose a room from your Microsoft meeting rooms. 
4. Toggle On to create a Teams meeting. 
5. View of the scheduled appointment time in your Outlook calendar. 
6. Search for the matter to link the appointment to. If needed, choose matter documents as attachments for the appointment. 
7. Use snippets to quickly insert appointment invite text. 

If you wish to get a reminder for the appointment, choose from the available options:

Set a status that will show in your Outlook calendar for the duration of the appointment.

If creating an appointment with attendees in different time zones, select which time zone is applicable using the drop-down arrow.
 

4. You can link the appointment to a specific matter in Thread by typing the matter name into the Link to Matter field.  


5. Once finished, click Save to create the appointment.  


6. Your appointment will now appear in your Outlook calendar and any invitee's calendar.  


AlertTo view and use your company Microsoft meeting rooms, you will need your IT provider to approve additional permissions for Thread. Please share the guide here with your IT provider for further assistance. 




Creating Appointments in a Matter 

Appointments created within a matter automatically link to that matter. 
First, enter the Matters tab in the left pane and select the matter that you want to add an appointment to. You can search for a matter in the search bar provided.   

1. Go to the Events tab 
2. Click + New 



3. A pop-up window will appear for you to fill in all relevant details. The appointment will automatically be linked to the matter you are in. 

4. Click Save.  

Linking Existing Outlook Appointments to a Matter 

You can now link any appointment in your Outlook calendar to a matter in Thread, even if the appointment wasn't created in Thread.  
From the home page, click the calendar icon and choose the date of the appointment in the calendar, then click on the appointment to open. 





Search for a Matter to link the appointment to and click Save. 




The appointment will now be shown on the Events page within the matter.
