With Thread, you can create custom fields that can be added to a file or contact. These fields can be viewed in file summaries and can be used when creating a template.
Custom fields must be created for a category such as File - Custom, Contact - Custom, Company - Custom, or Global.
Note: custom fields added to the File and Contact categories will only apply to the Template Designer and will not appear on the file summary page.
1. In the left pane of Thread, click Custom Fields, located under Template Desk.
2. In the top grey pane, click Add.
3. A pop-up window will appear. Fill in all information related to the custom field, add a data type, a category, a description, and choose whether to pin it to the file summary page.
4. Click OK to save.

3. A pop-up window will appear. Choose Contact - Custom as Category Field.
4. Select the type of field depending on the type of information you want to add for a contact.
5. Once you have entered the field display name and description, click OK.
6. Created contact - custom field will show in any contact under Fields tab.
Note: Contact - Custom fields can also be used in Template Designer to code templates.

2. In the top grey pane, click Add.
3. A pop-up window will appear. Choose Company - Custom as Category Field.
4. Select the type of field depending on the type of information you want to add for a company.
5. Enter the field display name and description, and choose whether this field is mandatory to fill in when adding companies.
6. Created company - custom field will show in any company under Custom Fields tab.
Once you have created a custom field, you can edit it at any time to change the data type, category, description, and pin/unpin from the File Summary page.

2. Select the custom field you want to edit and click Edit in the top grey pane.
3. A pop-up window will appear where you can edit the details.
4. When finished editing, click OK.
If you no longer want a custom field to appear on Thread, you can delete it at any time.
1. In the left pane of Thread, click Custom Fields, located under Template Desk.
2. Select the custom field you want to delete and click Delete in the top grey pane.
3. A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm your decision. Click OK.
