Default Templates - Admin

Set up default templates on Thread that automatically generate when you create a new file. Assign templates to different file categories such as Criminal Law or Property Law. When you create a new file in these categories, the templates, such as a Welcome to our firm letter, or a letter to client, will automatically be created using client and file information. 


Only Word documents can be set as default templates. If you set other type of documents as your default templates, none of the default templates will generate on the file.

Exception: you can have PDF documents set as default templates, but they will generate on the file as Word documents.

Ensure that you have templates coded and added to Thread first. 




  1. 1. Go to Admin Settings. 

  1. 2. Click the Files Tab. 

 

  1. 3. On the Category section, select a file category and click Edit. 

 

  1. 4. In the Default Templates field, add the templates you want to automatically generate for files in this category. 

 

  1. 5. Click Save. 

When you create a new file in this category, documents will be automatically generated using the file and contact information.
