Deleted Files and File Activities - Admin

All deleted files and file activities are stored in a Recycle Bin on Thread for a period not exceeding 93 days after deletion. This recycle bin is directly hosted by Microsoft SharePoint, and as such their retention policy is automatically applied to Thread Legal. 

Restoring Deleted Files & File Activities 

If you accidentally delete a file or a file activity on Thread and need to recover it, this can be done easily on the Admin Settings page. 

  1. 1. Click Admin Settings on the left pane of Thread. 

  1. 2. In the Admin Centre, click the System tab. 

 

  1. 3. Select Recycle Bin from the left side menu.  

 

  1. 4. Select to view deleted files or file activities by using the drop-down box shown and search for the deleted item by using the search bar. 

 

  1. 5. Select the item you want to restore and click Restore in the top grey pane. 

 

  1. 6. A pop-up window appears asking you to confirm your decision to restore. Click OK. 

  1. The file or file activity will be restored to its previous location before deletion. 

Deleting Files & File Activities from the Recycle Bin 

When files and file activities are deleted on Thread, they are automatically stored in the Recycle Bin for 93 days afterwards, in accordance with Microsoft SharePoint policies. If you want to fully remove files or file activities from Thread without the option of restoring them within this time frame, this can be done easily. 

  1. 1. Click Admin Settings on the left pane of Thread. 

  1. 2. In the Admin Centre, click the System tab. 

 

  1. 3. Select Recycle Bin from the left side menu.  

 

  1. 4. Select to view deleted files or file activities by using the drop-down box shown and search for the deleted item by using the search bar. 

 

  1. 5. Select the item you want to permanently delete from Thread and click Purge Deleted in the top grey pane. 

 

  1. 6. A pop-up window appears asking you to confirm your decision to delete the selected item. If you are happy to permanently delete, click OK. 

 

Note: once a file or file activity is permanently deleted, it can’t be recovered again. This includes all content contained inside a file.
