File Stages - Admin

The File Stages setting on Thread allows you to add particular stages that can be used across files, documents, and in templates. By creating and using file stages, you can easily manage and view the progress of a case. 


Creating File Stages 

File stages can be set up in the Admin Centre on Thread. 

  1. 1. Click Admin Settings on the left pane. 

  1. 2. In the Admin Centre, click the Files tab. 

 

  1. 3. In the menu on the left pane, click Stage. 

 

  1. 4. To add a new stage, click Add in the top grey pane. 

  1. 5. A pop-up window will appear. Add a stage name and description and click Save. 

 

 

Once you have created a stage, you can add it to a file category. You can then update the stage of a file, provided the stage has been added to the file's category. 

Adding Stages to File Categories 

To add a stage to a file, it must be included in a file category.  

  1. 1. Click Admin Settings on the left pane. 

  1. 2. In the Admin Centre, click the Files tab. 

 

  1. 3. In the menu on the left pane, click Category. 

 

  1. 4. Select the category you want to add a stage to and click Edit in the top grey pane. 

 

  1. 5. The Edit Setting window will appear. Click Stage, and select the stage you want to add to the category from the list that appears. 

 

  1. 6. Click Save. 

Adding Stages to Files 

To add a new stage to a file, the file must be added to the file’s category in Admin Settings. 

  1. 1. Click Files on the left pane. 

  1. 2. Select the file you want to add a stage to. 

  1. 3. In the File Details tab, click Summary. 

 

  1. 4. In the Stage box, select the stage your file is currently at. 

 

  1. 5. Scroll down and click Save. 

 

Editing File Stages 

You can easily edit the name or description of a file stage at any point after it has been created. 

  1. 1. Click Admin Settings on the left pane. 

  1. 2. In the Admin Centre, click the Files tab. 

 

  1. 3. In the menu on the left pane, click Stage. 

 

  1. 4. Select the stage you want to edit and click Edit in the top grey pane. 

 

  1. 5. In the Edit Setting window, you can change the name and description of the file stage. 

  1. 6. When finished editing, click Save. 

Deleting File Stages 

If you no longer want a file stage to appear on Thread, you can delete it in the Admin Centre.  

Note: If you want to remove a file stage from a particular category, you can do this in the Category section of the Files admin tab. Deleting a file stage will remove it completely from Thread. 

  1. 1. Click Admin Settings on the left pane. 

  1. 2. In the Admin Centre, click the Files tab. 

 

  1. 3. In the menu on the left pane, click Stage. 

 

  1. 4. Select the stage(s) you want to delete and click Delete in the top grey pane. 

 

  1. 5. A confirmation window will appear asking you to confirm your decision. Click OK.
