Generating Documents from Templates

Once you have installed the Thread Template Designer and have created some templates to be used on Thread, you can easily generate documents directly from a matter. You can choose to send one copy of the document per recipient or generate a document referencing all selected contacts.
NotesWhen referring to contacts in documents, they must be linked to the matter you are working on.

1. Click on Matterson the left pane of Thread.
2. Search for the matter you want to generate a document for and click the matter name.

3. Go to the Documents tab on the top pane.

4. To generate a document from a template, click the drop-down arrow beside the + Document button.

5. Click Document from template.

6. A pop-up window will appear. You can choose to view all templates or templates for the specific matter category. Search for the template using the search bar.

1. Toggle to view templates created for all categories.
NotesIf the template does not appear, you may need to select All categories and search for the template.

9. If you selected multiple contacts with the same contact type (e.g. both contacts are suppliers) you can choose if you wish to generate either a separate copy per contact or one copy referencing all selected contacts.

10. Click Create.

InfoThe template will automatically save to the matter you are in and appear in the Matter Documents tab. You can view and edit it at a later date from that page. If you have automatic time recording turned on, the timer will automatically start running for the document you generated and will be displayed in the Documents and Time tabs once stopped and saved.
