Linking Contacts to Files


Linking contacts to your files allows you to see which contacts are working on a case with you and who your primary client is.  
  1. 1. In the left pane of your Thread page, click Files. 

  1. 2. In the search bar provided, search for the file you wish to add a contact to. 

  1. 3. Click on the file name. 

  1. 4. Under the File Details tab, click Contacts. 

 

  1. 5. Click Link Contact. 

  1. 6. Search for the contact(s) you wish to link to the file or add a new contact by clicking Add. 

 

 

  1. 7. Select the contact(s) and click OK. 

  1. 8. A pop-up will appear to add a Unique Reference number and to choose the contact type. 

 

  1. 9. Click OK. 

  2. The contact will now appear in the Contacts tab under File Details. 


Notes
 If you need to instead link a company without a contact to the file, please follow the steps in Linking Companies to Files.


Unlink a contact that you don't need as part of your file. 
  1. 1. In the left pane of your Thread page, click Files. 

  1. 2. In the search bar provided, search for the file you wish to unlink a contact from. 

  1. 3. Click on the file name. 

  1. 4. Under the File Details tab, click Contacts. 


  1. 5. Select a contact you wish to unlink and click Unlink. 

  2. 6. Confirm OK that you wish to remove this contact from this file.

  1. The contact will no longer appear in the Contacts tab under File Details.
