Creating Appointments

With Thread, you can create appointments that automatically appear in your Microsoft Outlook calendar. You can also create a Microsoft Teams meeting, and link appointments to specific files.

Creating Appointments with Quick Create

The easiest way to create an appointment is by using the Quick Create button.  

  1. 1. Click on the quick create button located in the bottom right corner.  

  1. 2. Select Appointment. 

  1. 3. A pop-up window will appear where you can fill in all relevant details. Mandatory fields are marked with  *. 




If you wish to get a reminder for the appointment, choose from the available options: 


Set a status that will show in your Outlook calendar for the duration of the appointment.


If creating an appointment with attendees in different time zones, select which time zone is applicable using the  icon.

  1. 4. You can link the appointment to a specific file in Thread by typing the file name into the Link to File field. 

  1. 5. Once finished, click Send to create the appointment. 

  1. 6. Your appointment will now appear in the Outlook calendar of you and any invitees. 


To view and use your company Microsoft meeting rooms, you will need your IT provider to approve additional permissions for Thread. Please share the guide here with your IT provider for further assistance.

Creating Appointments in a File 

Appointments created within a file automatically link to that file.
  1. 1. First, enter the Files tab in the left pane. 

  1. 2. Select the file that you want to add an appointment to. You can search for a file in the search bar provided.  

  1. 3. In the File Documents tab, open the drop-down section beside New. 

 

  1. 4. Click Appointment. 



  1. 5. A pop-up window will appear for you to fill in all relevant details. The appointment will be automatically linked to the file you are in. 

  1. 6. Click Send. 


Linking Existing Outlook Appointments to a File

You can now link any appointment in your Outlook calendar to a file in Thread, even if the appointment wasn't created in Thread. 

From the home page, choose a date of the appointment in the calendar, and click on the appointment to open it.


Search for a file to link the appointment to, and click Send Update to save the change. The appointment will now show on the file activities page (*you must have activity log showing to view appointment log on files).
