Automatic billing ID requires a set up in your firm settings to be able to create and issue bills in Thread.
Your firm must enable and choose Billing ID settings in admin settings. Users will not be able to create or issue bills until this is set and enabled. If you do not have your bill ID set up yet, you will see below pop-up, warning you to configure your settings and guiding you to the relevant page in Thread settings.
Once saved, the billing ID layout will apply to all existing bills with start number starting from the first bill added in Thread in chronological order.
Numbers will then continue for all bills going forward.
The billing ID layout can be edited any time, and any changes made will only apply to future bills.
Billing ID is auto assigned to every bill once it is created. Bill ID will be visible within the Bill Details, on the Bills page of a matter, and global Bills tab under your Thread Financial page.
If a bill gets deleted, you cannot reuse the bill ID. Deleted bills can be viewed in the Bills report with their corresponding bill ID’s.
You can also see when a bill was deleted and by who, in the audit logs.
