Time History

With the Time History tab on Thread, you can view the amount of time you and other users have spent on files in Thread, edit the time spent, and include time in the file Activities page. 

Viewing Time History 

You can view time that you or your colleagues have spent on a file in Thread and include a date range for viewing the time logs. 

  1. 1. Click Time History in the left pane of Thread. 

  1. 2. Choose whether to view the time history of all files across a date range for a specific user, or all time on a specific file.

 

  1. 3. To view time on a specific file, select Specific file from the drop-down list and enter the name of the file in the File box. 

 


      4. Click on Export icon to pull a report of the results either as an Excel spreadsheet or PDF.



Editing Time Entries

After you have finished working on a particular file, the Time History section of Thread allows users to go back and edit the description of the activities and your time entries, giving you complete control of time logged. 

You can only edit a time entry if the activity has not been added to a bill. 

  1. 1. Click Time History in the left pane of Thread. 

  2. 2. Search for the file containing the activity that you want to change working time on

  4. 3. Use the drop-down boxes provided to select your preferred From and To dates for your timesheet report. 

  5. User will default to your own name, but depending on your role and permissions, you may be able to search for and view other users’ timesheets. 

  1. 2. Select the time entry you want to edit and click Edit in the top pane. 

 

  1. 3. A pop-up window will appear for you to edit the time. You can edit the title, the author, the date, include a time type, a rate, and edit the time spent. 

 

  1. 4. When finished editing, click Save. 

Including Time in File Activity 


You may want to include time you’ve spent on a file on the Activities page. 

  1. 1. Click Time History in the left pane of Thread. 

  1. 2. Select the time you want to include on the Activities page of a file. 

  1. 3. Click Include in Activity. 

 

  1. 4. You can now view the time history on the Activities page of your file. 

 

You can easily copy working time between different files on Thread. So, if you need to log the same amount of time for both files, or if you only have time recording triggered for one file and not another, you can copy over the time easily.

1.    Click Time History in the left pane.

2.    View time using the filters provided.

3.    Select the time you want to copy and click Copy in the left pane.

            

4.    A pop-up window will appear. You can enter a specific date for a file, or search for a file to copy time to.

           

5.    Select the file and click Save.
