The Permissions section within a matter allows you to control which users in your organization can create, view, edit, and delete documents in a specific matter. Removing all permissions for a user within a matter will remove their access to that matter entirely.
To restrict the user’s access to all matters within a specific matter category, such as Family Law, you can update the allowed roles in matter category permissions.

Editing Matter Permissions
You may want to edit the matter permissions of users in your organization, for example, granting them permission to edit documents, and removing their permission to delete them.

If a matter inherits permissions from its parent category (i.e. Family Law or Bankruptcy), you will have to stop inheriting permissions to edit user access.

1. Click Matters on the left pane of Thread.
2. Search for a matter using the search bar provided.
3. Click the matter name.
4. Click the Settings tab on the top right end corner then select Permissions.
5. Select the user(s) that you want to edit the permissions of and click Edit on the top pane.
6. A pop-up window will appear. Remove or grant permissions to users by toggling Yes/No.

7. Click Save.

To change user permissions, make sure to use the toggles as above. If you choose the Remove button instead, the
user will be removed from the list and you will not have the option to edit their permissions, and their permissions will not change.
Only the matter owner can edit the permissions of their matter.
