Thread offers various emailing functionalities, and you can find below a summary with the differences to help you decide on the best method to use for your company.
SENDING EMAILS:
- when you send an email from a matter in Thread, this email will show in your Sent Items folder in the matter Emails tab, and any replies to that email will come back directly to matter inbox.
- if you want the replies to the email you send from Outlook to come through directly to the Matter emails tab, you would need to link the draft email to the Matter using the Outlook add-in before sending (please note when saving draft email via add-in, once you send, this sent email will appear in your Inbox on Matter emails tab)
RECEIVED EMAILS:
- all emails that have gone through automatically to Thread matters would have a Thread tracker code at the bottom of the email - however, there could be other firms using Thread which would have a tracker code in their email, so from Outlook this is not the sure way of knowing this tracker code is yours and the email went to the matter - there is no sure way of knowing this from Outlook, best way is to check the matter
- if there is a tracker code from another company as well as your own, the email will still go to the matter it belongs to in your Thread as long as your tracker code is there
- if added via Add-in the email will be added directly to the matter Inbox -> you would have a green Thread category assigned to the email in your Outlook
- if added via Import option the email will be added to the emails tab in a matter, where you can choose to add to an email folder -> you would also have a green Thread category assigned to the email in your Outlook
EMAIL ATTACHMENTS:
Received
-> You can choose to add the attachment to a matter Documents tab directly using the Add-in
-> You can also choose to add the attachment to the Documents tab from the email tab in a Matter
UNASSIGNED EMAILS:
Emails sent to and from Matters on Thread have an ID that automatically links them to the Matter. However, if an email is sent to the Thread dedicated email address, and it is not specifically linked to a matter in your Thread, then it will end up on the Unassigned Emails page. Further, scanned items that have been received using a configured subject line or the dedicated email address, will also end up on this page. See Unassigned Emails for more details. Note: If your company is sending emails from individual email addresses in Thread, you can ignore this section entirely.
