Keeping track of time spent working on matters is easier than ever with Thread.
You can record time automatically, start timers manually only when you need to, or simply enter manual time records.
To select your time recording mode, please go to your personal settings. Options available to you there will be based on your firm time settings.
If you are using automatic time recording your time will automatically record while working on items within a matter such as creating a document or matter note, writing an email, creating a bundle or adding a call log. Timer will automatically stop and save once you click create / save / send.*
*When creating / editing a document, timer will not stop automatically, you will need to stop it in your daily time sheet once you are finished working on the document.
If you are starting a timer manually, once you click on Start timer, it will work the same as automatic recording.
Start timer option will only be visible if your time recording mode is set to ‘Manually’ in your personal settings.
For more details on automatic time recording or manually starting timers, go to Thread Timer.
To create a manual time record on any item you have been working on, click on the New time record icon wherever available, or click on Time record in the Quick Create button. Go to Manual Time Records on a Matter for more details.
All time records will be visible on the Financial / Time tab of a matter, where they can be edited or deleted as needed.
Columns in the Time tab can be reordered by clicking and holding the column name, then drag it to where you prefer.
Use filters to only show time records by specific types or users.
You will also see all your time logged in your daily time sheet, or to view time logged from previous days go to the Time History page.
There are multiple time reports available in Thread also such as Billable time, Matter Owner Timesheet, My Timesheet and more.
When you need to create a bill for a matter, you can easily include all billable time records to a bill within the matter Financial / Time tab. Your total time values will show at the top.
